Peskov says Russia not to announce decisions on grain deal early
MOSCOW, Nov 11 (PRIME) -- Russia continues negotiations on the future of the grain deal, the U.N. understands Russia’s concerns, and no decisions on a possible prolongation of the deal will be announced early, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
“Do you want us to announce the decision? No, such decisions are not announced, we will not do it. Indeed, the negotiations and the contacts continue, a number of issues, linked to the well-known part of the deal, should be solved,” he said.
“At this point, we have understanding of our U.N. counterparts, and the work continues in this direction,” he said.
The so-called grain deal between Russia and the West was signed in July to regulate shipments of Ukraine’s and Russia’s grain, food and fertilizers. The current deal expires on November 19. Russia has been complaining about problems with exports of its fertilizers and grain because of Western sanctions despite the grain deal.
